Silas Orlando Trippe was a jeweler and photographer. Born March 22, 1843, at Windman, Pa., Trippe was educated in the schools of Pennsylvania and when he was 19, enlisted in Co. K of the 109th New York infantry regiment, U.S. Army. He was wounded seriously at Cold Harbor and mustered into the reserves and out of service in 1865.
